  • Valerie Barnes-Mother
    • My mother inspired me in so many ways because I have witnessed her do her very best for me even when she had nothing much to give. She has always went above and beyond to make sure that I had. She has always instilled in me the values that I uphold this day. Very hardworking praying mother who went above and beyond, and this inspired me to do the same for my family.
  • Anthony Haygood-Father
    • My father has nurtured me in many ways that he may not know. Although he was not in the home with me, he always showed that he cared. My father has worked two jobs for the past 10 years just to make sure that his family ate. Because of this, he instilled in me the importance of family and how they should be supported.
  • Ernest Dixon, Sr-Pastor
    • My pastor has helped to nurture and care for me because he makes sure that my spiritual soul is in the right place. He ensures that my faith does not become shaky so that my family and I can get into heaven. I instill these same values into my family, our religion is very important to us, so he ensures i receive good teaching so that my family may receive good teaching as well.
  • Aunt Minnie-
    • Aunt Minnie is like my second mom, she lets me know when I'm right and when I'm wrong. She does all she has to make sure that me and my family are doing well. She is apart of my extended family, but she treats me as her daughter. She does what she does so that I become a better person, not only for me, but for my family as well.
  • Uncle Roy-
    • Uncle Roy is Aunt Minnie's husband. He loves me as if I am his own daughter, whatever I can ask of him, he does his best to help in whatever way he can. My aunt and uncle has showed me how to love family in the most unconditional way.
  • Thelma Cooper-Grandma
    • My grandmother was the world's best lol. She taught me how to cook, shell peas, and work in gardens. She loved the outdoors and there is no discipline like grandmother discipline. My grandmother is, now deceased, is really my step-grandmother, but she did not care, she treated me as if I was her "normal" grandchild, and I was. I loved my grandmother dearly because she bent over backwards to us.

Chanelle the Educator

I chose my college graduation picture because it marks the beginning of a new Journey for me, and that journey is to teach and mold the minds of our future.

My favorite children's book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear. The reason I love this book so much is because it allows children to learn, colors and animals. It also allows for children to read along and participate in the story.

This image to me represents that all children are the same and get along no matter the shape, color, size or SES. This is the lesson that I want to be taught inside my classroom, that we all can get along, and we all bleed the same color red.

The most important thing that fuels my passion when I see major progression from the time the child first began until the end of the school year. A child who would not say two words, now talks for days is a major progression for me.

1st time blogger

Hello everyone,

Blogging is something that is very new to me so I'm going to begin with an introduction. My name is Chanelle Barnes-Scott and I am a Headstart teacher at Statesboro Headstart in Statesboro, GA. I am the lead teacher in a three year old classroom who are filled with nothing but pure joy and happiness. I really enjoy my job at the Headstart, but I have REALLY big dreams of teaching in a public school next year. I am the mother of two beautiful children ages 8 & 5, and I also am the wife to a loving husband whom supports me in all that I do.

My reason for attending an online school is to further my education so that I can elevate in the educational field and become more experienced with what I do. I enjoy working with little children because they are eager to learn, and they love learning new things.
